The West District Outdoor league continued at the weekend with lots of great hockey on display.

It was another confident win for Western 3rd XI as they defeated Hillhead 4th XI 4-1. The defending champions have started this season as they finished last season. Helensburgh also had a strong win, continuing there unbeaten start, with a 4-0 defeat against Clydesdale 4th XI. Adam Carmichael scoring all four goals for ‘burgh. Elsewhere, Giffnock had a confortable victory over Kelburne 3rd XI, and Clydesdale 3rd XI got their first of the season defeating Hillhead 5th XI.

 

 

The second division saw two 1-0 wins – a rare score for hockey. Greenock 2nd XI defeated Western 4th XI 1-0 with the single goal falling to Murray Brown. The other 1-0 saw Rottenrow 2nd XI defeat Strathclyde University 2nd XI. John Giblin continued his good scoring form with another couple goals this week, for GHK. They defeated Uddingston 4th XI 3-0 at the High School of Glasgow. In the other matches, Uddingston 3rd XI won against Dumfries 5-1 and the Macey family got six of the seven goals that Hillhead 6th XI put past Ayr.

 

Clydesdale 5th XI put a stamp on division three with a strong 7-0 win, whilst Hillhead 8th XI won 7-2 against Dumfries 2nd XI. The other match saw another 1-0 match, with Uddingston 5th XI winning away at Giffnock 2nd XI.
