Storm Amy wrecked havoc on hockey this weekend but we did manage to see three games.

The current holders of the John S. Dick trophy, Western 3rd XI, beat the storm and travelled to the national hockey centre, playing against Rottenrow. The ‘row would have been keen to show they have what it takes for a title challenge this year but Western proved too strong. Four goals in the first half, with a further two in the second half was only met with two in total from Rottenrow, meant that Western ran out 6-2 winners. The other match to overcome the weather was Clydesdale 3rd XI against Kelburne 3rd XI. The game started evenly with both sides scoring early on, but Clydesdale were the only side to continue the scoring, putting a total of eight past Kelburne. Hamish Wyper, James Sheridan and Neil Morton-Lloyd all managing two goals a-piece for Clydesdale.

The only other match to play through the wind and rain was Hillhead 6th XI against Uddingston 4th XI, in division two. Neil Macey continued his scoring form early on for Hillhead, but Uddingston soon equalised. It was all to play for in the second half after a 1-1 first half score, but Uddingston proved the stronger side, scoring a couple to give them all three points.

Next week, the league takes a break as the first round of the George Black trophy takes place.
