A reduced fixture card this weekend but plenty of goals across all three divisions.
The only division one game of the weekend was Glasgow University 3rd XI vs. Hillhead 4th XI. It was the Uni’ teams first game back in the first division and it was a real eye-opener for them as they fell to nine goals without reply from a ruthless Hillhead team. The students will have to dust themselves off and get back in the saddle as the games keep coming with Helensburgh for them next week.
Division two had plenty of hockey on offer. GHK continued their impressive start to the season with a 4-1 win over Hillhead 6th XI. Two goals for Syd Davison helped seal the three points. It was goals galour in Ayrshire, as Ayr drew 4-4 with Strathclyde University 2nd XI. The highlight of the match was clearly a hatrick from Ayrs Aston Kerr. Dumfries got back to winning ways with a 4-2 win over Uddingston 4th XI. The other match result saw Rottenrow 2nd XI take all three points against Western 4th XI.
Anchor got their season underway on Saturday, in division three, with a statement 5-3 win over Helensburgh – made more impressive by the fact that Anchor only had nine players throughout the game. The other match result in saw Giffnock 2nd XI score eight against Dumfries 2nd XI. That match ended 8-2.
